STARTERS

Carrot and Caraway Soup: Carrots with onions, caraway seeds, sherry and vegetable stock, pureed until smooth, served with a stir of fresh cream and croutons for a soup full of flavour

Feta Mediterranean Tart: Shortcrust pastry tart filled with roasted red pepper, fennel, courgettes and tomatoes, topped with feta cheese, eggs and cream. Served with a side salad and tomato chutney.

Smoked Salmon Roulades: Cream cheese, mayonnaise, lemon, dill and prawns wrapped in smoked salmon, served with a side salad and brown bread.

Fresh Asparagus and Parma Ham: Fresh asparagus and parma ham served on a bead of salad with dill hollandaise, light tasty starter.

Melon Mango and Raspberry Coulis: Slices of melon and mango with a homemade raspberry coulis.

MAIN COURSES

Mediterranean Pork : Local pork steak, griddled, cooked with aubergine, green pepper, garlic, capers, olives and tomatoes for a dish full of flavour.

Beef Stifado: Devonshire braising steak,marinated in red wine,cloves and spices, baby onions and tomatoes for an infusion of flavours.

Pan Fried Sea Bream Fillet with Chilli Lime Butter: Pan-fried sea bream fillet served on a bed of spinach with discs of chilli lime butter.

Veggie Wellington: Puff pastry parcels filled with mushroom, caramelised red onion chutney, spinach and stilton, delicious.

Chicken Stuffed with Leeks and Brie: Local maize fed chicken breast filled with sauteed leeks and Somerset brie, wrapped in bacon, served with a white wine sauce.

Rabbit with Prunes and Mustard: Local rabbit pieces cooked with onions, prunes and Dijon mustard, served with a mustard mash.

Steak – Rump or Sirloin: Served with mushrooms, tomatoes and game chips. Choose a sauce if you wish: - Shallots in red wine/ Pepper sauce

Four course Dinner for £22.50 per person for parties of 10 or more.

Thai Fish Cakes with Chilli Sauce: Fresh fish with garlic, green beans, curry paste, lime, oyster and fish sauce, sautéed in hot oil, served with chilli sauce and side salad.

Homemade Chicken Liver Pate: Local chicken livers sautéed in butter with onions, garlic, brandy, tomato puree, served with tomato chutney, side salad and toast.

Fresh Fruit Cocktail: Melon chunks, grapes, dates, grapefruit and orange segments with fresh mint for a light fruity starter.

Gratin of Mussels with Tomato, Garlic and Basil: Fresh Mussels cooked in white wine, served with a covering of tomato, basil and garlic, sprinkled with breadcrumbs and grilled until golden.

Beef Bourguignon: Strips of Devonshire steak slowly braised with onions,garlic,tomatoes and red wine, garnished with shallots,bacon,mushrooms and tarragon.

Cider Braised Lamb: English lamb leg steak braised in Devonshire cider with rosemary, delicious.

Venison with Orange and Brandy: Exmoor venison slowly cooked with garlic, mushrooms, oranges and brandy with tomato puree and a pinch of coriander for a dish full of flavour.

Tarragon Chicken: Local maze fed chicken breast sautéed with shallots, fresh tarragon, white wine, chicken stock and double cream.

Roasted Squash with Thyme Scented Vegetables: Butternut squash roasted with peppers, courgettes, aubergine and thyme with a crumble of gorgonzola served with roasted pine nuts.

Sea Bass Fillets with Red Peppers: Sea bass fillet roasted on a bed of red peppers, lemon and garlic, served with red pepper butter, delicious.

I have eaten here several times as part of a large group. The food is delicious and always imaginative combinations of locally sourced ingredients. They are very accommodating of special dietary requirements with prior notice. This is one of my favourites in the area.

Bookings

We are open every Friday and Saturday evening  for any size table and for that special lunch or dinner we  are very happy to open any other weekday for parties of  ten or more.
