Five course Dinner for £28.50 per person.

STARTERS

Tomato and Red Pepper Soup: Roasted tomatoes and red peppers, drizzled with olive oil and basil, pureed served with croutons.

Prawn and Avocado Cocktail: Prawn with chunks of avocado, chopped celery and spring onions, mixed in a homemade rose marie sauce on a bed of salad with brown bread.

Sticky Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese Coleslaw: local chicken wings, marinated in honey, soy sauce, garlic, tomato puree and ginger. Served with homemade blue cheese slaw and side salad.

Fresh Fruit Cocktail: Grapefruit, orange segments, grapes, strawberries and fresh mint for a refreshing starter.

Somerset Brie & Red Onion Tartlet with Figs & Honey: Caramelised red onions in Balsamic vinegar served in a puff pastry tart with Somerset brie, honey and slices of figs, plated with side salad and chutney

MAIN COURSES

Cider Braised Lamb: English lamb leg steak braised in Devonshire cider with rosemary. Delicious.

Guinea Fowl with Apples and Pears: Guinea fowl breast cooked with button mushrooms, smoked bacon, apples and pears with a little white port.

Portuguese Pork with Herby Rice: local pork with onions, pancetta, garlic, green peppers, tomatoes, wine and chorizo, slowly cooked for a deep flavour. Served with parsley and coriander rice.

Beef Stroganoff: Devonshire braising steak with onions, mushrooms, tomato puree and English mustard, finished with a stir of cream.

Aubergine and Pepper Moussaka: layers of aubergine with courgettes, peppers, red onions and tomatoes topped with crème fraiche, cheddar and parmesan cheese with a sprinkle of rosemary, baked until golden.

Pan-Fried Salmon with Mussels: Fresh salmon fillet served with mussels and peas in a white wine horseradish sauce with spring onions.

Steak – Rump or Sirloin: Served with mushrooms, tomatoes and game chips. Choose a sauce if you wish: - Shallots in red wine/ Pepper sauce

Four course Dinner for £22.50 per person for parties of 10 or more.

Broad bean, Tomato and Feta Tarts: shortcrust tartlets filled with crumbled feta, broad beans, cherry tomatoes, eggs and double cream, finished with feta and fresh basil, served with side salad and tomato chutney.

Chicken Liver Pate: local chicken livers, sautéed in butter with onions, garlic, brandy, tomato puree and butter, served with chutney, side salad and toast.

Plaice Goujons: strips of plaice dipped in egg and fresh breadcrumbs with tarragon, served with tartar sauce and side salad.

Minted Melon Balls with Toasted Almonds: Melon balls with sliced strawberries, cucumber and mint with a scattering of toasted almonds for a light fruity starter

Chicken and Chorizo with Lemon and Spinach: Maze fed chicken breast with onion, garlic, chorizo, lemon, cumin and paprika with tomato puree and spinach, delicious.

Beef Carbonnade: strips of Devonshire beef, sautéed with onions and English mustard, slowly cooked with beer and beef stock.

Honey, Orange and Thyme Glazed Duck Breast: English duck breast glazed with honey, orange, garlic and thyme.

Braised Pork with Apricots: Local pork loin steak braised with shallots,celery,rosemary,apricots and Devonshire cider with wholegrain mustard for a dish full of local flavours

Halloumi Stuffed Peppers: Roasted pepper stuffed with marinated mushrooms, couscous, parsley and halloumi cheese, sprinkled with toasted pine nuts.

Pan Fried Sea Bass with Ratatoulli: Sea bass fillet pan fried with lemon juice, served on a bed of ratatoulli drizzled with basil oil.

I have eaten here several times as part of a large group. The food is delicious and always imaginative combinations of locally sourced ingredients. They are very accommodating of special dietary requirements with prior notice. This is one of my favourites in the area.

Bookings

We are open every Friday and Saturday evening  for any size table and for that special lunch or dinner we  are very happy to open any other weekday for parties of  ten or more.
